We know. Red wine can be irresistible. But it's stains can be impossible to remove! Your perfectly coordinated outfit will be ruined, and so will the gala you are attending. You don’t have to despair, though. There are several ways to battle tough red wine stains.
Dampen a cloth and dab the area – start blotting the edges out first. Don’t wait for the stain to settle in – address it immediately. The longer you wait, the tougher it is to eliminate.
Soak the garment in hot milk and then rub hydrogen peroxide or active oxygen in combination with soap.
Hydrogen peroxide can work wonders. Mix the chemical with dishwashing detergent, both in equal parts. Pour generously over the stain and let it soak. It begins to fade almost immediately. Thereafter, pop the garment into your washing machine and launder it normally.
Salt reacts well with wine to eliminate it. First, blot the stained area with a cloth. Thereafter, douse it in salt – the entire area should be covered. The salt sucks up the stain, as it dries. Use baking soda in case salt is not available.
White vinegar and laundry detergent mixed together act as an eliminator. Neutralise the red pigmentation formed due to the wine spill when you cover it with the vinegar and laundry detergent mixture. Rub the vinegar in, and then rub the liquid detergent on top of it to see the difference.
Bleach the white fabrics – this tip is useful only when the wine spills over white garments. All you have to do is soak the fabric in a bleach solution for some time and wash with hot water. The stain disappears.
